Hence Proved! - Kiran Salim (QI 2015)

The voice of Adhan made me take a break from the computer and I, eyes closed and quiet, rested my head on the back of the chair and started to answer the “Call” :

الله أكبر , الله  أكبر, اشهد ان لا إله الا الله , اشهد ان لا إله الا الله, اشهد ان محمد الرسول الله, اشهد ان محمد الرسول الله,

لا  حول و لا قوة الا بلله, لا حول و لا قوة الا بلله, الله أكبر, الله أكبر, لا إله الا الله.

The words that we repeat at least five times a day, for the first time made me ponder in such depth…There really is no power except Allah..!! The more we ponder the more we realize that we are nothing..!! Literally..!!

All these statements have been ‘done’ to death and we have heard them so many times that our minds have stopped registering them as a piece of information. It’s like – it just goes in the junk mail of our brain somewhere, unregistered.

But when the truth  strikes- it strikes really hard and one realizes the severity of the situation and the lack of time we have .Pardon me for my haphazard thoughts that I still am trying to organize, but the perception of the whole Creation plan is a bit too grand; too grand for our little brains to comprehend.

If truth be told, it reminds me of the psychological experiments we read about in our college days; the Thorndike’s puzzle boxes or the mazes, where the hungry animals had to find their way out in order to get to the ‘positive reinforcement’ waiting for them on the other side. The environment controlled and the hypothesis all worked out. Believe me I feel like that rat, frantically trying to find the way out, making the same mistakes again and again.

My maze is clearly designed, my responses predicted, my actions being analyzed and yet still, my performance is to determine the results waiting for me at the other side of the box. Did I make the right decisions? Was I focused enough? Was I able to detangle myself from my conditioned thinking ? Or have I been lost in the maze completely distracted and disoriented?

I feel traumatized by my little dilemma, my little mouse mind cannot comprehend the power and intellect of ‘The Scientist’. I am too little to question ‘why’ or even to try to reason out. One thing I can do and have to do , is worry about myself and get myself out of this claustrophobic place!

لا حول و لا قوة الا بلله

Realization of these words makes one want to just put the face on the ground, prostrating and in full submission. There is no power but Him, to Him every creation bows and we cannot go through one minute if not for His Will and Mercy.Over flowing with mistakes yet still bowing down, we persist on begging for His Rehmah .

يا حي يا قيوم بـرحمتك استغيث
